I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law and Justice Studies at Rowan University. I hold a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, an M.S. in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Psychology and Criminology from Chatham University. My research focuses on health criminology, examining how factors such as sleep patterns, head injuries, and athletic involvement impact engagement in antisocial behavior, particularly among adolescents and young adults. I have also explored the relationship between professional sports games and crime patterns across cities in the United States.
As an educator, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to both research and teaching, drawing from criminology, psychology, public health, and sociology. I have taught classes in research methods and criminal justice at the undergraduate and graduate levels. My teaching philosophy focuses on effective engagement, using a variety of instructional methods - including lectures, videos, group activities, and discussions - to accomodate different learning styles and help students grasp course materials effectively.
My research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals including Crime & Delinquency, Journal of Criminal Justice, Journal of Crime and Justice, Journal of Experimental Criminology, Punishment & Society, and Youth & Society. I am open to discussing new research ideas and potential collaborations. Please feel free to reach out via email to connect.
